- DEER PARK HIGH SCHOOL  - STUDENT  GOVERNMENT DAY -

Today, a select group of juniors and seniors from Deer Park High School took part in "Student Government Day".  Each student spent the entire day "shadowing" a city official and learning what's it's like to be responsible for our city's government and services.  They started their day meeting at City Hall where they joined their assigned  City Official and received a general overview of our city's operations.  It was a very busy morning as they were treated to a tour of some of our City Facilities!  The group toured our police station, our solid waste transfer station, our water treatment plant, and fire station #3.   At 11:30 am, they were invited to have lunch at The Battleground and were welcomed and recognized by members of our Deer Park Rotary!   After lunch, the group returned to City Hall and City Council Chambers where they took park in a "Mock City Council Workshop Meeting"!

(That's where these photos were taken!)

DEER PARK  - CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY  CLASS #35!

Over the next 14 weeks, DP CPA Class #35 will learn lots of interesting and surprising facts about "real police work" and even more about being a "Deer Park Police Officer"!   For instance, did you know that our DPPD is rated in the top 1% of Police Departments in the Nation?   And, did you know that the academic requirements are higher to become a DP Police Officer than those of our neighboring departments?    It is the hope of our DP CPA Alumni Association that many members of CPA Class #35 will develop a new-found respect and admiration for our Police Department and our Officers!   We further hope that upon graduating, many of you would consider joining us as our Alumni Association seeks to find ways to serve the Deer Park Police Department, our fantastic officers and our great community!

The good news is that you don't have to wait until graduation to join us!  Just check our Upcoming Events and come out and join us!  We'd love to meet you and get to know a little about you!   On Thursday, March 9th, we'll be at Chic-Fil-A - 9101 Spencer for "CHIK'IN WITH A COP"  7 - 8:30 pm.  On Saturday, March 25th, come join us at "DPPD SHRED DAY", a community-wide shred event and food drive held at the police station from 9 am. to 1 pm.!  YOU ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!

If you have questions or comments, feel free to call me anytime!
